Dew Bright Elementary was developed by Oleh Borysiuk, an English teacher, author, and classroom practitioner who has been teaching since 2017.
Throughout his work with students, Oleh saw that children were often expected to remember information and produce correct answers, but were given fewer opportunities to generate ideas, explain their reasoning, explore different possibilities, and improve their thinking.
The system behind Dew Bright grew from a desire to make those opportunities a natural part of everyday learning.
The Belief Behind The System
Creative thinking should not be treated as something rare, abstract, or reserved for occasional projects. It should be something every child has the opportunity to practise – in small, meaningful ways, across different subjects.
Learners develop as thinkers when they are regularly encouraged to ask questions, consider alternatives, make connections, explain their choices, listen to other perspectives, and revise their ideas.
These abilities are not only valuable in the classroom. They help children become more confident learners, thoughtful communicators, flexible problem-solvers, and active participants in the world around them.
From Classroom Practice to a Complete System
As the author of a popular education book Creative Thinking in the Classroom, Oleh has spent years developing practical approaches that help learners think more flexibly, communicate more clearly, and engage more deeply in lessons.
His work has always been guided by the realities of teaching: limited preparation time, busy schedules, different student abilities, and the need for activities that are clear enough to use immediately.
The ideas behind Dew Bright have been developed, refined, and tested through real classroom practice. Teacher feedback has shown encouraging improvements in student participation, confidence, communication, enjoyment, and willingness to think beyond the first answer.
Dew Bright Elementary builds on this foundation and brings it together as a complete, classroom-ready system for Grades 1–5.
Designed Around What Teachers Actually Need
Dew Bright Elementary does not ask teachers to replace their curriculum, prepare specialist materials, or redesign entire lessons.
Each activity is designed to fit naturally into the school day, usually requiring only 5–7 minutes and familiar classroom tools such as a board, markers, notebooks, pencils, and a timer.
The purpose is simple: to give teachers a realistic way to strengthen important thinking skills without adding unnecessary complexity to their work.
Across English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Art, students are encouraged to:
- Generate and develop original ideas
- Explain and support their reasoning
- Approach unfamiliar problems with confidence
- Consider different viewpoints
- Ask purposeful questions
- Make connections across subjects
- Listen and respond to others
- Evaluate and improve their own thinking
Small Activities. Meaningful Growth.
The philosophy of the system is not that one routine will transform a learner. Meaningful growth develops through repeated opportunities to think, contribute, explain, reconsider, sometimes fail and try again.
A few purposeful minutes, used consistently, can gradually change how students participate in learning. They become more willing to share ideas, more capable of explaining their thinking, and more confident when there is no single obvious answer.
That is what Dew Bright was created to support.
